That’s why it’s essential to know about nightshades and their cautions during pregnancy. Nightshades include a variety of vegetables such as tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants, bell peppers, tomatillos, pimentos and goji berries. Pregnant women should carefully consider whether or not to consume these types of vegetables since they contain a toxic chemical called solanine that can cause health complications in some cases.
